Employer Activation – Experiential Learning Exhibit  
This is an opportunity to bring your technology on-campus – hosted in an outdoor space with heavy student traffic.  Educate students about your technology, organization, workforce skills of interest, and recruiting opportunities while building your brand via an-in person experiential learning exhibit/activation. Please note: this is a mass branding/high visibility opportunity and ideal for employers targeting more than one college. There is no fee associated; please see below to learn more about how to submit a request.

Career Related Requirements:  

  • Request must be submitted at least 2+ months in advance via this Employer Activation – Experiential Learning Exhibit Career Related Confirmation Form
  • Can not take place on the day of a UT Austin Career Fair
  • Please note: if targeting one college, the event may also be declined due to the targeted college’s capacity during the week of a UT Austin Career Fair.
  • Must take place during the fall/spring semester: Late August-October or Late January-early March (Learn more about the recruiting timeline and dates to avoid.)
  • Career related educational content is required: must teach students about the organization, technology, workforce skills of interest, and recruiting opportunities.
  • To ensure maximum ROI the following is required:
  • Employer must have engaged (within a year): in a UT Career Center hosted Career Fair, On-Campus Interviews, and/or other Career Prep or Recruiting Program.
  • Employer must have an active/current job or internship role(s) posted in a UT online recruiting system.

Please note: once we review your request to confirm that the exhibit is career related and to ensure maximum ROI, we will send next steps regarding the Student Activities application and approval process (see below overview of policies).

Student Activities General Exhibit Information/Policies: 

  • “General exhibit” means an object or collection of related objects, designed to stand on the ground or on a raised surface, which is not a table, is designed for temporary display, and is not permanently attached to the ground.
  • Before submitting a reservation request, members of the public should review the full list of rules and policies. A full list of rules can be found in Chapters 10 and 13 of the University’s Institutional Rules. Some of the specific measures:
  • Members of the public may not reserve or use indoor spaces (limited public forum).
  • Members of the public may reserve or use common outdoor areas as long as they are not already reserved.
  • During weekday business hours, amplified sound can only be used at designated times and in designated areas with a reservation. (link to map)
  • Open flames are prohibited on campus.
  • The general public is not permitted to hang signs or banners on campus buildings, landscaping, hardscape, or trees.
  • Commercial solicitation is prohibited.

Parking policy:  

  • Any motorized vehicles used to unload/park on campus, will need to be unloaded and picked up during non-high trafficked times on the day of the event.

We are happy to work with you to host a McCombs-exclusive event or to promote an existing event through our recruiting systems. Your Recruitment Account Manager can help you coordinate event options specific to your company:

Information Sessions and Workshops

Represent your company brand and present your organization to prospective candidates

  • Typically one hour; held Monday-Wednesday evenings
  • May be held virtually or in a classroom on campus
  • Recommended for employers with a strong, existing presence on campus

Pro Tips

  • Presentation portion recommended to last no more than 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session, networking or breakout groups
  • Focus content on information not easily found online such as company culture, interview processes, specific roles and career paths
  • Enhance participant engagement by including a virtual office tour, a panel discussion, or other instructive content
  • In addition to recruiters, students value hearing from recent alumni and representatives currently in the roles being recruited

Office Hours

Dedicate time for one-on-one or small group conversations with prospective candidates to allow for in-depth conversations regarding recruiting, company culture, and more

  • Typically held during the day over the span of a few hours
  • 15- or 20-minute prescheduled time slots recommended

  • Connect with McCombs Accounting and Finance talent in a career fair style event format. The primary audience is third year MPA students seeking internships for spring 2025 and MPA students seeking full-time roles. This will be a great opportunity to build your brand with accounting and finance talent and share both internship and immediate hire roles. This event is intended for public accounting firms, private industry, and federal, state, local, and other regulatory agencies seeking accounting and finance talent. This event is targeted towards MPA students but will be open to other student populations such as MS Finance, BBA Accounting, and BBA Finance.   • This fun, fast-paced recruiting event is the perfect way to fill just-in-time MBA hiring needs for both full-time and internship positions. Meet with students in the morning for initial screening conversations; then, during the lunch hour, submit a closed list of candidates to interview that afternoon.   • Eleven top tier business schools collaborate to host a virtual interview forum, which provides an opportunity to meet and interview pre-selected candidates from a broad talent pool for internship and full-time roles. Registration coming in February.

MS Company Showcase  

  • Date: Thursday, February 1
  • Time: 11:30 – 2:30 p.m.
  • Join us for our spring recruiting event targeting McCombs Specialty Masters students who graduate in Spring 2024. This event will provide the opportunity to showcase your company, in a career fair format, and to interact directly with students in the MS Business Analytics, MS Finance, MS IT & Management, MS Marketing, and MS Technology Commercialization programs. This is an opportunity to promote any current open roles or potential future roles.

Career City Limits:

  • Career City Limits is the signature speaker series of School of Design and Creative Technologies Industry Relations. Each semester we host curated, intimate sessions with employers from the design & creative tech industries in Austin and beyond. For the past two years we’ve run the series over the course of each fall & spring with as many as 26 employer sessions in a single semester.

  • These are typically 30-minute to two-hour-long sessions where an employer comes to discuss concepts related to their field! One example of a previous workshop was teaching UX students how to make a compelling portfolio. Our office holds workshops as well and we would love to collaborate with you!

  • Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups for 20 to 30 minutes to discuss recruiting, your company culture, and more.

iSchool Capstone – Professional Experience Project (PEP)

  • Suppose you (or your organization) have a project you want to complete but haven’t had the time, bandwidth, or expertise. In that case, we encourage you to consider offering the task as a PEP opportunity. Through the PEP, you can bring on an MSIS student to your team for a semester-long project, and have them complete your project that can help advance pursuits towards your company’s goals.

CNS Connections

  • Each semester, Natural Sciences Council organizes and hosts the college’s largest undergraduate networking event, CNS Connections, which facilitates communication between UT College of Natural Sciences (CNS) students and current industry professionals from the Austin area. The goal of the event is to provide CNS students with early exposure to a diverse variety of professions through partaking in face-to-face conversations with current industry representatives.
