Information Sessions and Workshops

Represent your company brand and present your organization to prospective candidates

  • Typically one hour; held Monday-Wednesday evenings
  • May be held virtually or in a classroom on campus
  • Recommended for employers with a strong, existing presence on campus

Pro Tips

  • Presentation portion recommended to last no more than 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session, networking or breakout groups

MPA Multi-Employer Events 

MPA Mock Networking Event

  • Date: Wednesday, August 16
  • Time: 1:00pm-2:30 pm
  • Format: In-person
  • Target audience: Traditional and Integrated MPA students seeking full-time roles.
  • Students will attend the MPA Mock Networking event with employers immediately following a networking workshop with the MPA Career Coaching team. Students will learn how to strengthen their networking skills and put these new techniques into action at the mock networking event. This is a great opportunity to connect with top business students.

MPA Mock Interview Day

  • MPA Mock Interview Day allows you to build your company brand with students, identify great candidates early, and help students improve their interviewing skills by conducting mock interviews. All MPA students are welcome to attend and half-day or full-day schedules are available.

MPA Industry Night

  • Date: Wednesday, August 30
  • Time: 5:00-7:00 pm
  • Format: In-person
  • Target audience: The primary audience is third-year MPA students seeking internships, but all MPA students are welcome to attend
  • MPA Industry Night offers the opportunity to market your organization to MPA students through a series of mini-information sessions dedicated to industry. After the sessions, students have the option to connect with all participating employers at a networking reception. It’s the perfect venue to inform students of career opportunities within your organization and meet with them one-on-one. The primary audience is third-year MPA students; however, all MPA students are welcome to attend. This event is open to industry employers (e.g. consumer goods, energy, healthcare, technology, etc.).

MBA Career Connections

  • Date: Thursday, September 21
  • Format: In-person
  • The MBA Career Connections networking reception is the Texas McCombs MBA Program’s premier fall recruiting event for full-time and internship MBA candidates. This event will provide you access to a pipeline of talent and is the foremost branding opportunity of the semester.
  • Participating employers will have the option to interview graduating MBAs for full-time positions on Friday, September 22 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Space is limited and first-come, first-served.

MS Fall Mock Interview Day

  • Date: Friday, August 18

  • Full-day not required; two-hour time blocks available.

MS Industry Fridays

  • Dates: August 25, and September 15
  • Time: 1:30-3:00 pm
  • Format: Virtual
  • MS Industry Fridays are designed to introduce and educate students from MS Business Analytics, MS Finance, MS IT & Management, and MS Marketing programs in a variety of industries, roles, and functions related to their analytical degree programs. Employers will share information about their company and opportunities in order to help students gain a better understanding of careers they want to pursue. The format of these educational events will be informational sessions followed by Q&A time. MS students have a skillset that generally translates to the following types of roles:

These events provide an opportunity for students to learn more about your organization and for you to increase your visibility and gain name recognition among students. There are no room or equipment charges to participate for information sessions arranged by the Engineering Career Assistance Center in the Cockrell School of Engineering.

Career City Limits:

  • Career City Limits is the signature speaker series of School of Design and Creative Technologies Industry Relations. Each semester we host curated, intimate sessions with employers from the design & creative tech industries in Austin and beyond. For the past two years we’ve run the series over the course of each fall & spring with as many as 26 employer sessions in a single semester.

  • Host hour-long sessions where an employer comes to present information to the students about the organization. Employers can also discuss the specific positions or sets of jobs that they’re hiring for.

Workshops

  • These are typically 30-minute to two-hour-long sessions where an employer comes to discuss concepts related to their field! One example of a previous workshop was teaching UX students how to make a compelling portfolio. Our office holds workshops as well and we would love to collaborate with you!

Office Hours

  • Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups for 20 to 30 minutes to discuss recruiting, your company culture, and more.

iSchool Capstone – Professional Experience Project (PEP)

  • Suppose you (or your organization) have a project you want to complete but haven’t had the time, bandwidth, or expertise. In that case, we encourage you to consider offering the task as a PEP opportunity. Through the PEP, you can bring on an MSIS student to your team for a semester-long project, and have them complete your project that can help advance pursuits towards your company’s goals.

  • Meet and Greets provide an opportunity for employers to meet our students in a casual setting at the Law School either in our Susman Godfrey Atrium or outside in the Patman Plaza. These typically take place in the morning (8:30-10:30 a.m.) or during lunch (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.).

  • Each semester, Natural Sciences Council organizes and hosts the college’s largest undergraduate networking event, CNS Connections, which facilitates communication between UT College of Natural Sciences (CNS) students and current industry professionals from the Austin area. The goal of the event is to provide CNS students with early exposure to a diverse variety of professions through partaking in face-to-face conversations with current industry representatives.
