“Experiences at UT” is an inventory of experiential learning (EL) opportunities for UT Austin students. You can search for EL opportunities across all UT Austin colleges/schools and industries or use the filters below to delimit your search by specific college/school, EL type, degree level, or industry. “Experiences at UT” also brings together in one place other search tools that focus on just one type of EL—such as Eureka for research, HornsLink for student organizations, and the Navigator for entrepreneurship.

Graduate students in our Speech-Language Pathology MSSLHS program participate in providing direct services to the clients of the University of Texas Speech and Hearing Center (UTSHC) and/or in a research laboratory or institute of the Department, as well as at two or more externships (Advanced Applications in Clinical Practicum).

The Urban Information Lab uses emerging information technologies to better understand, measure, plan, and develop our urban environments. Since the lab’s inception in 2013, researchers have used big data to assist analyze different urban planning topics such as transportation planning, land use patterns, and accessibility to healthy food systems. The Drug Dynamics Institute takes an interdisciplinary approach for preparing students, researchers, and emerging entrepreneurs. Advanced methods, including the flipped classroom, online training (Take Your Medicine), and 1-day startup sessions provide hands-on opportunities to experience health innovation development. Participants learn how to identify and develop ideas for novel products and services, perform market validation analyses, conduct customer discovery interviews, assess the competitive landscape, develop prototypes, and apply skills for effectively working in teams. The Lester Entrepreneurial Scholars, based in the College of Pharmacy, and the Innovating for Health certificate program have produced motivated entrepreneurs who have gone on to write successful SBIR grants, win power pitch competitions, obtain prestigious fellowships/residencies, and be invited to participate in local, national, and global follow on programs.

Student training is an important component of the research activities of the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG). UTIG itself does not award degrees; rather the institute maintains close relationships with the Jackson School’s Department of Geological Sciences and the Marine Science Department through cooperative programs and joint faculty appointments. Many graduate and undergraduate students from The University of Texas at Austin and other universities and high school students take advantage of the opportunity to work with the staff and facilities of the Institute for Geophysics on projects related to funded research programs. Office space and computational resources are made available to students in the Institute laboratory.

The UT PREP Summer STEM Pathway provides advanced content, career exploration opportunities, and CTE credit to middle and high school students for four summers. UT PREP camps must be completed consecutively. There are a variety of internships available to students UT students to support the summer program and gain valuable experience.

A paid 10-week program that dovetails project-based work experience with robust professional development, mentoring and opportunities for self-reflection. The program offers a variety of internships in different areas including marketing, design, business, among many others.

UTeach is designed to give both undergraduate students and degree holders the opportunity to explore the profession of teaching in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) in a hands-on way.
