Experience you gain as a University of Texas at Austin student will help make you a more competitive applicant for post-graduation jobs and advanced-degree programs, as well as help you build your network and your confidence so you can take other paths, including entrepreneurship. Pursing new experiences can also help you learn more about the career you’re planning for or explore possibilities you haven’t considered yet!   • Become a Leader: Student organizations offer leadership roles that can help you demonstrate to employers your ability to be a leader.
  • Explore Your Intellectual Interests: Whether you’re in a lab or studying a work of art, research helps you build professional skills to prepare for careers or advanced studies.
  • Find a Virtual Opportunity: In-person experiences may not always be an option, but you can still gain experiences virtually.

Enrolling in a Career Community

Career Communities are industry-specific toolkits open to all students for: Business and Entrepreneurship, Creative, Non-profit, Public Service and Government, Science and Sustainability, and Technology. Each toolkit is full of information to help students successfully navigate that industry and connect with opportunities. By enrolling in a community, you can explore careers in the industry, communicate your story, build your network, and find opportunities through announcements of upcoming industry-related events and current job or internship postings.


Earn a Coursera Certificate

UT Austin undergraduate students can access free online learning for one or more of the Excel and Grow with Google Certificates. Learn and hone career-ready skills by earning company-designed and industry-leading certificates for high-demand career paths.
